Miss Maggie Meredith the first girl to hold a government contract to carry mail on the Star mail routes. She carried the mail from Pomona to Rincon a distance there and back of 24 miles. [She still lives in Pomona and] her name is Mrs. Margaret Slaughter. Died Feb 13, 1952
