John Edgar Hubble M. D. Father of Page, Douglas, Harris, Jean, Mattie, and Vivian Hubble. Born June 18th 1864 in Seven Mile Ford, Virginia. Graduated from University of Virginia in 1891 and after post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins started practice of medicine in Chilhowie, Va. near his birthplace in 1893. In February 1904 migrated to California and settled in Lordsburg (now La Verne) and practiced medicine in Pomona Valley until July 1936. Died July 31st 1936 after suffering from Coronary Thrombosis attack. Lived for many years at N/E corner of Holt and Gordon, later moving his house to S/W corner White and Orange Grove, leasing lot on Holt for gas station. He was instrumental in rebuilding of Pomona Valley Hospital after the fire destroyed the hospital on Piedmont St. (now Kingsley) west of Garey. Worked with Swindt Thomas, Toland, Kelly, Ralph Smith, Robert Smith, Newcomer, Burns, Garcelon, T Hardy, and many other old-timers in the valley. He was a "pillar" of 1st Baptist Ch
